WRITING A NEW AUTO POLICY?
Here's what you need to:

DRIVERS ABSTRACT
If you have an Alberta Drivers License, you can get a current drivers abstract from either
A-1 Licensing - 539.5009 or
the License Center - 532.4033

If you have an Out of Province Drivers License, you need to contact Registries in that province. Please see our abstract information page for more details.

CLAIMS HISTORY LETTER
If you have had previous insurance, you will need a Claims History Letter from your previous insurer. Contact the broker that you were insured with to request a Claims History Letter. The more history you can provide the better (6-10 yrs).

VEHICLE INSPECTION
Any vehicle 12 years old and older must have
a completed Vehicle Inspection. We can
provide you with the blank inspection form, and any licensed mechanic can complete the form for you.

If the vehicle has come from out of province, an Out of Province Vehicle Inspection form must be completed. You can get one of these forms from either A-1 Licensing (539.5009) or the License Center (532.4033). Be sure to ask when you pick up the form which mechanics are qualified to complete the form for you.

PROOF OF OWNERSHIP
You can't insure something that you do not own. Please provide proof of ownership of the vehicle (ex: bill of sale, leasing agreement, previous registration card/insurance). To avoid delays and frustration, the name on the proof of ownership has to match the name on the insurance policy. We can provide a blank Bill of Sale form to you.

PAYMENT OPTIONS
Some of the companies that we deal with offer a monthly payment plan option. If this option is available to you, we will require a Void Cheque from you that will be sent to the Company with your new application.

Once you have obtained insurance for your vehicle, you will be ready to get your license plate for the vehicle. License plates are available at A-1 License and the License Center.

We hope that the above information will help you to obtain vehicle insurance with as little frustration and delay as possible. Should you have any further questions or concerns, we will be pleased to help you.
